Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400 g) diced or crushed tomatoes
- 1½–2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or both)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chopped onion until soft, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5–10 minutes so the flavors combine.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cooked rice.
- Transfer everything to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
