This is a must try fall recipe! It’s a super easy recipe with only 5 ingredients using the instant pot. It will infuse your house with the best fall scent and make your family come running for it. There’s nothing like warm fresh apple butter. Best part-it’s zero points on WW!
Ingredients:
- 3-5lb bag of Gala apples
- 1tsp cinnamon
- 1tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2c water
- ) Directions:
- I like to use Gala apples because they are one of the sweetest apples. That way added sugar isn’t needed!
- Wash apples, peel, and either quarter or spiralize. I like to use my Kitchenaid!
- Place the basket inside the instant pot. This keeps all the liquid at the bottom. Place the apples, 1tsp cinnamon, Itsp pumpkin pie spice, and 1/2c of water inside the instant pot. Mix the spices with the apples.
(Do not add the vanilla yet)
- Pressure cook on HIGH for 5 minutes. Natural release for 5 minutes and then a quick release.
- Transfer just the apples in the basket to a blender. Do not transfer the liquid. (If you have an immersion blender-you can use that)
- In the blender add 1tsp of vanilla extract to the apples and blend until smooth.
- Transfer to mason jar or a different container.
- Serve:
- Spread on toast, bagel, or English muffin (it’s best when it’s nice and fresh and warm)
- Add in oatmeal or yogurt
Refrigerate: - Keeps fresh for about 2 weeks
Warm up:
-Microwave on 50% for 45 seconds
- The difference between applesauce and apple butter is the consistency! Apple butter is thicker and great for spreading. If you want apple sauce with this recipe, just keep the liquid at the bottom of the instant pot. You can tell if it’s apple butter if you can hold the jar upside down without any coming out!! (Refrigerate first before you try the test)
- If you don’t have an instant pot: use a slow cooker crock pot. I believe it’s about 10 hours on low.
