As a mother, I always knew, based on the grief I gave my own mom, that raising a daughter would be akin to dodging landmines as she copes with those self-defeating thoughts that plague all of us from time to time.
I fight like mad to reinforce feelings of confidence and engender her with the sense that beauty comes from within and that her appearance is evanescent. And in an effort to take the focus off of her, I am trying to pique her interest and provide confidence-boosting activities she can focus her energies on.
For us, these activities have been focused on cooking and baking. In fact, most recently under the direction of my daughter, I recently whipped up my very first batch of Weight Watchers Garlic Bread Bites – 3 Points for 8 Weight Bites on Watchers Blue. Whether your child is 2 or 18, cooking /baking is a great way to spend quality time and save yourself oodles of cash since it means less store-bought goods for you.
