Icing Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Tbsp light butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup regular confectioners’ sugar/powder sugar or zero point powdered sugar substitute like Lakanto Monkfruit powdered sugar sweetener

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.  Add lukewarm water.
  2. Stir and mix until dough forms.
  3. Using your hands knead for one minute and form a ball.
  4. Spray a large separate bowl with non stick cooking spray. Place dough in prepared bowl. And flip over to ensure the top of the dough has a bit of cooking spray on top of it.

  8. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  10. Bake for 14-16 minutes, until the bottom is golden-brown. Remove from the oven, and let them cool for 5 minutes.
  11. Using a pizza cutter slice the dough into 1 1/2-inch wide strips, and then cut them again down the middle. Making 16 sticks.
  12. To make icing: Mix butter, powdered sugar and milk together. Stir until well combined. Add milk until it is the desired consistency.

Notes

  • You can use active dry yeast as a substitute for instant yeast-however if you do use active dry yeast- you’ll need to dissolve the active dry yeast in the water before mixing it into the flour mixture.
  • The Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener (sugar substitute) that is used in this recipe is zero points. Please keep in mind-the point value can vary depending on the brand of sugar substitute you choose to use. Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener also has a 1:1 ratio to real sugar. If you use a different sugar substitute you will want to use the equivalent to real sugar that is recommended on back of the sugar substitute package.
  • If erythritol is the only sugar alcohol in the ingredients list, its carbs can be completely subtracted from the total carbs.
