Lightened Up Copycat Bonefish Grill Bang Bang Shrimp

This Lightened Up Copycat Bonefish Grill Bang Bang Shrimp is a healthier version of the popular Bonefish Grill appetizer-a healthier alternative that can be made right at home! Crispy baked or air fried shrimp coated in a creamy, sweet and spicy bang bang sauce!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. raw large shrimp peeled, deveined
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp Kraft light mayo
  • 2 Tbsp or 1/8 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup Sugar Free Sweet Chili Sauce- I use G Hughes Sugar free Thai chili wing sauce
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp sriracha, optional. Adds a bit of spice, but this can be omitted or adjusted depending on your taste preference
  • 2 tsp rice vinegar

Instructions

Stove Top Directions:

  1. Using a paper towel pat the shrimp dry. Place dry raw shrimp in a large bowl and toss in corn starch.
  2. Spray a large skillet with nonstick cooking spray and heat over medium high.
  3. Cook the shrimp on both sides until cooked through or until pink for 6-8 minutes. (depending on the size of the shrimp. Remove from heat. 
  4. Combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Whisk until well combined.
  5. Toss the cooked shrimp in the bang bang sauce and stir until well combined. You can leave a small amount of sauce to drizzle over the top before serving, if desired. 
  6. Garnish with parsley, scallions, or sesame seeds, if desired.
  7. Serve the bang bang shrimp with your favorite steamed veggie, over rice, pasta, or eat as is.

Air fryer Directions

  1. Using a paper towel pat the shrimp dry and toss in corn starch.
  2. Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Set the temperature to 400 degrees.
  4. Air fry the shrimp in small batches for 6 minutes. Remove from air fryer. 
  5. Toss the cooked shrimp in the bang bang sauce and stir until well combined. You can leave a small amount of sauce to drizzle over the top before serving, if desired. 
  6. Garnish with parsley, scallions, or sesame seeds, if desired.
  7. Serve the bang bang shrimp with your favorite steamed veggie, over rice, pasta, or eat as is.
